Phen 375 is a very popular weight loss diet supplement.  

Before you continue, allow me to share an important fact.

Popular does not mean a thing when it comes to weight loss. 

Whether a diet or a diet product is popular has no bearing on whether it is any good.  Some people are desperate to lose weight and they follow the crowd.  When making any weight loss decision base it on whether it will be a good fit for you and your lifestyle.  

In the following review, I have done my best to present the good and the bad about Phen375, so that you can make an informed decision.


The first thing to do is to check for Phen375 complaints.  Why?  If there are page after page of legitimate complaints, there is a real problem.  You need to be aware, however, that many of the online 'complaints' on any product are often by sellers of competitive products to get you to switch to their products or sellers of the same product that you are considering and they want you to purchase through them.  These type of complaints are usually 'review' sites, not really complaints.

Complaints:  (Let's make sure Phen375 is legit).  Below, you will see that typed 'phen375 complaints' into my search box.

Let's take a look at these top 5 results.

#1: This is a review website, it is not a real complaint.

#2:  Customer claims order was from official website, probably was not.  Look at your web browser address when ordering any product to be sure you are on the right web site.  Yes, there are  cheaper poor quality versions of nearly all products, so making sure that you are actually at the right web site. 

#3.  The BBB has 8 complaints not 9.  With over 200,000 sales, this low number is a very good sign.

Did I check every every complaint?  No.  But my complaint search says volumes.  The important thing is that Phen375 is NOT a scam and that there are a very small number of complaints..  

So let's continue.

"No Exercise, No Change in diet!"  is a misconception.

I want to bring this up. because some of the BBB complaints were that no exercise or diet change were required to lose weight.

Not meaning to defend Phen375, but it clearly states on their website that:

"Phen375 has specifically-designed diet plans and exercise routines created to help you burn fat."

If you are thinking that you will not need to make any dietary or exercise changes with Pen375, then I want to be sure that you know that you will have to make some changes.

According to the images, the testimonies, the number of years in business, and the total sales, it works well.   I am sure that all of this information is true, but since any of this information could be a fabrication, it is a good idea for us to examine the ingredients.

Calcium Carbonate is best known for strengthening bones.  How it works to help with weight loss is that calcium, which is stored in your fat cells, controls the breakdown of fat, the more calcium in your cells the higher the rate of thermogenesis.  Calcium also acts to suppress appetite, which leads to a reduction in calorie intake.  Since calcium aids weight loss, being deficient in calcium is thought to contribute to weight gain.

One analysis of 11 studies, published in Obesity Reviews in 2013, showed that chromium picolinate, when used for weight loss, resulted in an average weight loss of 1.1 lbs. over 8 to 24 weeks.

L-Carnitine (L-Tartrate) 68%   L-Carnitine helps us to burn fat and increase energy.  It actually transports fat molecules to the mitochondria to be burned as energy.  

University of Nottingham Medical school found that L-Carnitine users burned 55% more fat during low intensity exercise and supported fatigue resistance by 25% and helps decrease muscle soreness and improve muscle recovery.  

In 2003, a study of 84 people for 30 days showed that the L-Carnitine  group lost 3lbs vs. 0.5lb for the placebo group, the dosage was 4g (4,000 mg).  

In 2004, a study of 36 women taking 4g of L-Carnitine had no more weight loss than the placebo group.

In 2016, in a study  of 60 over weight women, who were given 250mg of L-Carnitine for 12 weeks lost almost 6 pounds more than the placebo group.


Caffeine Powder Anhydrous (Capsicum frutescens)

Caffeine  improves metabolism and helps mobilize fat from fat tissue.  To benefit from caffeine it should be coupled with exercise.  Studies indicate that caffeine will increase metabolic rate by 3 to 11%.  (PubMed)  Caffeine is considered safe for most people when used in moderation (400mg or less).  Pregnant women or people with heart problems are usually urged to avoid caffeine.  Caffeine is also credited with reducing appetite.

Cayenne (Capsicum) 10M HU/G

Cayenne (Capsicum)  is an herb that is believed to help with losing weight.  It is supposed to raise metabolism, suppress your appetite, and help you to burn fat.  

A 2003 study of women that ate fresh chili pepper has a raise in their metabolic rate for up to 30 minutes after consumption.

A 2010 study revealed that a dihydrocapsiate supplement taken for one month increased metabolism by about 50 calories.  Dihydrocapsiate, which is a capsinoid  in chili peppers, is similar to capsaicin.

A 2011 study showed that people who do not like spicy foods realized better weight loss when they began taking cayenne capsules.

Fringe Benefit:  In another study of  198 people, capsaicin was found to be an anti-inflammatory agent and gastro-protective.

Dendrobium Nobile Extract (from orchids)

Dendrobium Nobile Extract (from orchids) is best know for its Chinese healing abilities.  Regarding weight loss, it is touted to increase energy levels and boost metabolism.  I could not find any evidence, studies, trials, or tests to validate its weight loss benefits.

Citrus Aurantium (Fruit) extract (Standardized for 10% synephrine)

Citrus Aurantium, also known as Bitter Orange, is a plant which is used to make medicine.  Bitter orange oil is used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and soaps.  For weight loss it is usually teamed up with caffeine.  It is promoted as an appetite suppressant. A 2012 meta-analysis illustrated that synephrine, which is a chemical in Citrus Aurantium, increased energy expenditure and resting metabolic rate  

Be careful, do not take more than the prescribed dosage as Citrus Aurantium can have serious health complications such as increased blood pressure, stroke, and heart attack (Mayo Clinic)

Coleus Forskolii Root PE (10% Forskolin)

Forskolin is found in the roots of the Indian coleus (Coleus forskohlii), a tropical plant which is related to mint.  Forskolin gained weight loss popularity after being featured on the Dr. Oz Show in 2014.  Forskoiln stimulates the release of stored fats.

The largest study, so far, for Forskolin has been on a group of  30 obese men (PubMed).
The results were a bit surprising, but encouraging.  The 15 men that took 250mg of Forskolin (10% forskolin) twice a day for 12 weeks.vs. the placebo group,  lost significant body fat and gained significant lean muscle with no difference in weight loss.  IMO, the loss of fat was compensated by gaining heavier lean muscle.  The conclusion of the study is that "forskolin is a possible therapeutic agent for the management and treatment of obesity."

In a study of 23 women, no weight loss was shown, but the conclusion was that "CF does not appear to promote weight loss but may help mitigate weight gain in overweight females with apparently no clinically significant side effects." (NIH)

The 2 Week Diet


The evidence strongly suggests that Phen375 will work for you, however, the ingredients indicate that exercise is the catalyst.  Of course, as stated above, a diet plan that lowers calories and exercise is important. 

Even though it comes with a 60 day satisfaction guarantee, if you do not exercise and follow the diet plan, you are probably not going to lose weight. 
On the other hand, if the purchase of Phen375 will help you to engage in more exercise and to make better eating choices, then you should try it.

My intent was to give Phen375 a bad review, expose its flaws, and help you, my reader to avoid it. Hydroxycut is an example of the kind of negative review that I had in mind....however....

Based on the images, testimonies, number of sales, the longevity of the product, the longevity of the company, and the solid evidence that all but one of its ingredients have research backing their promoting weight loss, I find myself giving Phen375 a reluctant thumbs up.  

Phen375 is not a 'magic' diet pill, but it should improve your weight loss results as long as you compliment your efforts by following the Phen375 diet and exercise plans.

Fat Burning: A Different Approach

No more cardio?  Not quite—but if you train with weights correctly, you won’t need to visit that boring treadmill quite as often to keep your abs sharp.

And I’m not talking about interval cardio, although the weight-training method I’ve been preaching has an HIIT feel to it. That’s the F4X method, (featured in Old School New Body) which is moderate-weight, high-fatigue training with short rests between sets. It burns more fat and pumps up your muscles like crazy too. 

Here’s the drill:

You take a weight with which you can get 15 reps, but you only do 10; rest 30 seconds, then do it again—and so on for four sets. On the fourth set, you go to failure, and if you get 10 reps, you increase the weight on the exercise at your next workout. Notice how those sets are like intervals with short breaks between—you can even pace between sets to burn extra calories, but there’s more.

Fat-burning pathway 1: While that training style does great things for muscle growth, via myofibrillar and sarcoplasmic expansion, you also get loads of muscle burn. That lactic acid pooling has a spiking effect on your growth hormone output—and GH is a potent fat burner. Fire up muscle burning to get your GH churning. (GH also amplifies other anabolic hormones, so it effects both muscle and rippedness.)

Fat-burning pathway 2: If you do the reps correctly on every set, you’ll also get myofibrillar trauma. The myofibrils are the force-generating strands in muscle fibers. By “damaging” them with slower, controlled negative strokes, you force the need for extra energy during recovery. In other words, your body runs hotter while you’re out of the gym as it revs to repair the microtears.

To attain that extra fat-burning trauma, use one-second positives and three-second negatives on all 10 reps of all four sets. On a bench press that’s one second up and three seconds down. It’s the slow lowering that will produce the metabolic momentum after your workout. (That rep speed will also give you 40 seconds of tension time on every set, an ideal hypertrophic TUT.)

Fat-burning pathway 3: Now if you really want to get some blubber-busting microtrauma, try your last set of a F4X sequence in X-centric style. That’s one-second positives and six-second negatives. You may have to reduce the weight, but it will be worth it. Try for eight of those, 56 seconds of tension time, and you should feel the results the next day. Your muscles will be aching, but it’s a good indication that fat is baking.

F4X for a GH surge, slower negatives for fat-burning micro trauma and X-centric for even more time under tension and fat extinction. It all adds up to faster leanness with less meanness—because you’ll need less cardio.
