The Fruit Flush Diet is a 'flush' or a 'cleanse or detox diet.' Jay Robb, a clinical nutritionist developed the Fruit flush Diet as a way of giving your digestive system a break from processed foods. The diet is a 3 day cleanse which focuses on fruit, protein, and salad and drink lots of water. This detox diet claims that you will lose nine pounds in three days. After the three days, you have more freedom, just stay within the diet rules.
DAY 1: From 8AM to 4PM, you will drink a protein shake followed by 8-12 oz of water. For dinner, you can have a salad with no starchy vegetables topped with olive or flax seed oil or you can have 1/2 of an avocado with 3-6 oz. of protein (lean) or egg whites.
DAY 2 and 3: Day 2 and 3 are all about fruit. From 8AM to $PM you will have a 100 calorie serving of fruit every 2 hours. For dinner, you can have 1/2 avocado and a protein shake.
Exercise: Exercise is discouraged during the three days, a 20 minute light walk is permitted.
What you can eat:
Fruit...raw fresh fruit preferably organic. Lean protein, salad, protein shakes, lots of water, some non starchy veggies.
What you cannot eat:
No caffeine, no sugar, no seasonings, no salt, no alcohol, no wine, no sweeteners.
The Fruit Flush Diet does include a list of foods that you are allowed to eat along with specific times for you to eat them.
Cost: You will need to stock up on raw fruits, veggies, and protein shakes. You can choose Robb's brand of shakes but it is not required.
You will lose weight. The reason is your low calorie intake, not the flush.
You will eat healthier.
You will not eat foods that are detrimental to your health and weight.
You can make this diet vegetarian,
You may not lose 9 lbs.
You will be eating and drinking every two hours for three days, which may be difficult to impossible due to work or lack of commitment.
See your doctor before trying this diet. You caloric intake will be about 900 to 1000 per day which is too few for some people.
You may feel weak or fatigued.
Your kidneys and liver 'detox' your body, not food.
Supplementation is a good idea, especially during the first three days.
Short term diet.
You will probably gain beck what you lose and perhaps more.
No meetings, no support.
Flushes, cleanses, detox diets, and short term diets teach you how to diet incorrectly. You train your mind and body that weight loss is 'short term'. When you decide to go long term, you have made it extremely difficult to succeed.
Aside for the the short term training mistake, the Fruit Flush Diet is difficult. Unless you can take a long weekend, doing this diet and working seems very difficult. I consider the Fruit Flush Diet to be a band aid type quick fix, which is not good for the dieter. I give the Fruit Flush Diet a thumbs down and do not recommend that you consider adding it to your list of weight loss options.
