Dr. Ian K. Smith and Dr. Mehmet Oz The Four Day Diet Review If you are thinking that the four day diet is a four day fast diet, it is not. It is diet created by Dr. Ian Smith that is a 30 day program to lose weight. You will begin with a 10 day period in which you do not diet, you simply record your food, exercise and moods. During these 10 days, Dr. Smith also has you do a bit of self analysis. Your introspection will be on points such as why you are overweight, why are you having problems losing weight and what you feel your obstacles are. You will also set your weight loss goal. Once you begin the Four Day Diet, there are seven phases, each phase will be four or more day long. Four Day Diet Phases: Induction: In this stage you will detox and cleanse. Transition: During transition, you will be re-connecting with all the food groups. Protein Stretch; In this phase you load up on protein such as fish, eggs, and meats. Smooth: The smooth stage allows you to eat a few of the formerly forbidden foods. Push: you go back to a stricter eating regimen Pace: Keep a steady pace of exercise and diet. Vigorous: Quite strict with your focus on fruits and veggies and lots of cardio. 60 Recipes are included and these recipes can be modified with vegetarian substitutions. The Four Day Diet tends to be a low fat, low carb, low salt diet, and can be altered to vegetarian or gluten free. Exercise: Exercise is important of your success in the Four Day Diet. Most days will include more than 30 minutes of exercise, exercise is 40 to 70 minutes per day and is required. Dr. Smith includes valuable help with the mental side of dieting. He contends that diet success is 80% mental and 20% physical. He helps you to retrain your mind. Positives: Lose weight Eat healthy Feel and look better Keeping a diary has been found helpful for weight loss Heart healthy diet Lower cholesterol Lower Blood pressure Behavioral and attitudinal strategies No added food costs Exercise is required. Negatives: Plan and prepare meals No packaged foods There are no studies that prove that Dr. Smith's 4 day modules work better than other diets. No meetings No support Restrictive Exercise may be a negative for some. When the diet ends, it is unclear how to continue. A disciplined eating and exercising regimen. Advertisement: Conclusion: The 4 Day Diet is in reality a month long diet that will help you lose weight. Requiring exercise and helping you with improving your weight loss thinking are two strong points that I endorse. Unfortunately, I feel that the 4 Day Diet needs an eighth phase for maintenance which it does not have. It is a great diet, I give it a thumbs up. I am not recommending that you put it on your list, however, since it may take a lot of willpower to get through some of the more restrictive phases, it includes demanding exercises and longer exercise times that may not be a good fit for some people physically and/or time wise, and it lacks a maintenance phase. Thank you for reading, my friends, I wish you success on your weight loss journey. Kind regards, George Pierce Founder Win At Losing Weight Advertisement: |
