Eat This, Not That is a result of  a Men's-s Health column by David  Zinczenko and Matt Goulding.   The idea of this diet is to swap lower calorie foods for higher calorie foods.  The diet has grown to where it  now includes a website,  videos, a quarterly magazine. along with e-books and downloadable PDFs.

How Does It Work?

The 'Eat This, Not That' diet is based on the principle of swapping foods or calories.  You make better food choices by swapping poor  quality, fattening foods, with high calories, for healthier foods with less calories and less fat.  You may not agree with every food swap idea or suggestion and neither do all the experts, but the basis of Eat This, Not That is the basis for a sound lifestyle change.  A change that is healthier, will help you to lose weight, and that you can live with.

What can you eat?

You will be pleased to hear that you can eat just about anything.  You can eat things like bread and deserts and fancy coffee.  You can eat out.

The following are some examples of the diet's suggested restaurant swaps:

Want a restaurant Burger?

Choose
Steak 'n Shake's  double steak burger with cheese (440 calories) rather than
Five Guys Little Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onions, and mayo (673 calories)

Want a restaurant Salad:

Choose
Chili’s Santa Fe Chicken Salad (670 calories) rather than
Chevy’s Fresh Mex grilled chicken fajita salad (1220 calories)

Want a restaurant Pizza?

Choose
Domino’s Artisan - Italian Sausage & Pepper Trio (320 calories) rather than
Pizza Hut's Italian Sausage & Red Onion pan pizza (540 calories)

Eat This, Not That promises that you should lose weight, between 10 and 30 pounds.  The diet will help you avoid 20 of the worst foods.  Most of the swaps help you to stay away from foods that are high fat, and/or high calorie,  high sodium, or trans fat or saturated fat.  The swap is usually healthier with lower calories, lower fat, lower sodium, higher fiber, and higher protein.

Positives:

The diet is fairly easy.
There are no foods that are banned.
This diet is excellent for those who like packaged foods, dining    out,  or prepared foods.
Shopping and cost should change little.

Negatives:

This diet does not recommend exercise.
You are on your own.
There is no community or forum at the website, which concerns me.
The structure is loose.

Conclusion:

I like the Eat This, Not That Diet because it it quite easy to follow.  In addition, David Zinczenko has published a number of other books to compliment this diet.  Since this diet is easy, that may present a problem for those who need a stricter regimen.  With that being said, I give the 'Eat This, Not That Diet' two thumbs up.  I suggest that you consider adding this diet to your list of diet choices.

Thank you for reading, my friends, much success on your weight loss journey.

Kind regards,
George Pierce
